As a sole proprietor, what does one call themself on business cards, in emails, and on LinkedIn?

  1. That is always a tough one. You also need to think about your long term goals for the business. If you plan to stay a one person shop, then something like CEO may be a little pompous. Also, when I determined my title, it sounds professional, but I also say that it was a business I started.

    • Definitely agree on some of them sounding pompous! What do you call yourself? I like the idea of using my title to be descriptive (like Online Presence Consultant) since my business name doesn’t say what I do…something to ponder :)

  2. I think I’ve seen: founder, owner, and president the most … When I hear the title “CEO” I tend to think major corporation…
